Android Adding ‘Camera Go’ To Low-Cost Phones

After gaining more than 100 million users in 180 countries, Google is adding a camera feature to its stripped-down phone Android Go edition.The camera, coming to Nokia 1.3 and other Android Go phones, has features for tracking photo and video storage space and a simple interface.

Google and Safaricom, Kenya’s largest cellular provider, brought 900,000 low-cost Android Go phones to the country via its Life is Digital campaign.

“With the help of the suite of Google apps designed for Go edition, people are connecting with new opportunities and making gains in their daily lives,” states a Google blog post. “Google Go has helped connect millions of people to information by providing a lightweight search engine that works on unstable connections.”

The phones also can use Lens in Google Go to translate, hear and search text they see using their phone camera.
